I received an IRS tax notice of deficiency in 2009 claiming that I owed the IRS an additional $13,901 in tax on my 2007 tax return, plus additional interest and penalties totaling over $20,000.  I retained my CPA tax preparer to attempt to resolve this matter on my behalf but he was unable to resolve the matter and nearly a year suggested that I should pay the more than $20,000 to the IRS.
